Lewis Contractors History

Lewis Contractors was established in 1972 as a partnership between Ronnie Lewis and his cousin, Nelson Lewis. In 1977 Ronnie and his wife, Madeline, became the sole owners of Lewis Contractors and incorporated the business. It has operated as an underground utility and sitework construction business in the Austin area since that time. In the past few years we have grown into a large diameter municipal water line company. Lewis Contractors has completed hundreds of projects ranging from subdivisions to large diameter water and sewer line projects and almost every type of civil construction. Lewis Contractors has never failed to complete any project that it has been involved in.

Ronnie Lewis was exposed to the construction industry as a young man. While growing up, he learned the trade by working for his father who owned Cecil Lewis Trucking Company. Ronnie learned to operate heavy equipment during his teenage years and became familiar with many different aspects of the construction business. The last thirty five years have brought substantial growth not only to the Austin area, but also to the business. Lewis Contractors, Inc. has grown from about 20 employees in 1977 to over 150 today. Many of those key employees who first started in the beginning are still working with Lewis Contractors today. In the early years, Lewis Contractors grossed $1 to $2 million dollars per year and now, the annual revenue has grown to over $25 million.
